Understand the basics in Auditing Cloud Services

The cloud computing industry has been growing exponentially over the past decade. It continues to fuel businesses’ digital transformation efforts, with organisations increasingly using cloud services for new initiatives.

Cloud spending rose 37% to $29 billion during the first quarter of 2020 (source: PwC).
This trend is likely to persist, as working remotely, requires scalable, secure, reliable, cost-effective off-premises technology services. Despite the economic downturn in the wake of the pandemic, cloud spending is estimated to rise 19% for the full year, even if IT spending is forecasted to fall by 8%, according to industry analyst Gartner (source: Gartner).

As the dependence and utilization of cloud increases, it is of paramount importance to audit cloud services effectively, to identify all changes, and make the necessary adaptions.

Within this short presentation, we will introduce you the following fundamental topics:

  • The differences between traditional computing the cloud computing
  • How these differences impact the audit methodologies
  • What are the challenges when auditing cloud services
  • Which are the next steps and prospects
