Heartland - Audit Manager (with IT Audit Experience), Full time, Permanent Role, Auckland

Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit and working in a small internal audit team, you will be the team lead on IT and system risks and controls, ensuring that they are adequately considered by the team in all the audit activity performed. Being part of a small and dynamic team, you will be comfortable performing general internal audit activities, as well as IT audit activities. You will work across all business units of Heartland Bank.

At Heartland Bank our Audit team is viewed as our strategic business partner and work collaboratively with their internal customers, discussing findings and providing valued advice to ensure great business outcomes.

You will:

  • Conduct internal audit assignments in line with the approved audit plan, including any special tasks or projects.

  • Complete audit assignments and project reviews in accordance with International Standards of Internal Auditing and established Internal Audit procedures.

  • Perform consulting services, beyond Internal Auditing's assurance services, to assist Management in meeting its objectives.

  • Proactively identify and assess emerging trends and hotspots in the business and effectively communicate these within the business.

Is this you?

With experience designing and executing fieldwork to high quality standards and communicating key audit messages and recommendations, you are agile minded, with excellent critical thinking skills. You have an enquiring mind, prepared to thoroughly investigate issues. You can demonstrate success in accurately assessing controls and articulating your results both verbally and in writing and are comfortable dealing with senior leaders. Your superior relationship management skills and collaborative style have contributed to your success in your role and to your outstanding reputation.

With demonstrated success in a partnership role, keys to your success will include:

  • Work experience in delivering a risk based internal audit methodology, or similar, such as external audit or risk management experience.

  • IT audit experience, preferably with a CISA Certified Information Systems Auditor or similar qualification, and an understanding of ITIL and/or COBIT

  • Ideally qualified or working towards CIA Certified Internal Auditor and/or CA Chartered Accountant or similar.

  • Ideally banking experience with a solid understanding of bank processes.

  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills preferred
