Are you and your teams engaged?

When:  Jul 23, 2019 from 17:00 to 19:00 (ET)
Associated with  Canberra Chapter

Apologies for the last minute comms.  This event is on tomorrow night and any members that are able to make it are encouraged to come along.  Please look out for invites for our August and September events in coming days.

Please join us for a discussion about staff that are engaged and staff that are not. We will visualise an organisation, that you can relate to, where all staff are engaged. We will carefully consider why staff become disengaged and I'll propose a method for addressing this constructively that you can test, in your organisation, with your people, in your contexts.

James caught a passion for helping organisations with staff engagement after working in research, government and private sectors - with brief stints in not for profit organisations on specific projects - from 2000 to 2016. Seeing engaged staff in any sector is mesmerising - truly wonderful and powerful. When staff are disengaged, cultures suffer and places can become rather confronting. James doesn’t want to imply that dealing with staff is easy, however engagement is something that can be addressed with hard work (and compulsory fun).

Speaker:              James Young

About the Speaker

James is an experienced professional with infectious enthusiasm for everything he does.

He is a strong supporter of continuous learning and collaboration for professional development. He prides himself on his ability to facilitate diverse groups of people as they share their stories. James helps groups collaborate successfully for enhanced productivity, and to enable positive engaging cultures.

Since leaving academia (entomology) and government in mid-2014, James has specialised in advising, training and mentoring people in private, public and not for profit sectors. Topics/services include:

- Team development, futures planning, collaboration and growth through change.

- Mentoring initiative design and one-on-one services.

- Innovation: initiative design, staff empowerment.

- Meeting facilitation.

Personally, James is generous with praise, quick to smile and always looks for the positives in a situation. He values learning from the past—applying lessons from history to solve new problems and innovate.

James uses his photography wherever he can.
