SheLeadsTech Canberra Event: Empower Your Voice – Whose Slide Is It Anyway?
Join us on Thursday October 3rd at The Duxton for an exciting and unconventional public speaking event presented by SheLeadsTech Canberra, ISACA Chapter.
Picture this scenario: You’re covering a crucial presentation for your colleague, Alex. Everything seems in order until you stand in front of the audience, and—surprise!—the notes are gone! You’re left with nothing but the slides and your wits.
"Empower Your Voice: Whose Slide Is It Anyway?" is designed to help participants improve their public speaking skills in a fun, supportive environment. You’ll be challenged to present slides you haven’t prepared for, with no notes, pushing you to think on your feet and build confidence. This event is perfect for those who feel they rely too much on scripting their presentations or want to embrace the unexpected with poise and professionalism.
What to Expect: Participants will improvise presentations based on random PowerPoint slides, with little time to prepare. The focus is on developing confidence, thinking creatively, and delivering under pressure—skills that are invaluable in any professional setting.
Throughout the evening, we’ll rotate through group and individual presentations, each followed by feedback from our esteemed panel of mentors. The goal is to help participants embrace unpredictability, improve their presentation abilities, and have fun in a safe and encouraging atmosphere.
How the Night Works:
- Participants will take turns presenting random slides from a shared PowerPoint deck.
- Each presenter will do their best to speak to the content on the slide.
- At the end of the session, we’ll conduct a quick self-assessment and provide feedback on the presentations, highlighting areas for improvement and building confidence.
- Our panel will offer constructive and positive feedback to ensure everyone leaves with practical tips and increased self-assurance.
Mentors and Panelists:
- Anooshe Aisha Mushtaq (Attorney-General's Department) – A consultant, social commentator, and national security speaker specialising in preventing violent extremism and community resilience.

All supportive members of the Canberra security community are welcome, regardless of experience level. We promise a night filled with learning, networking, and plenty of laughter.
