  • Security & Leadership - Event Recap

On Friday, our chapter hosted a dynamic and thought-provoking event focused on the intersection of Security and Leadership. In today’s rapidly changing landscape, organizations face an ever-growing range of challenges when it comes to protecting their assets, data, and people. This timely discussion brought together experts in cybersecurity, risk management, and leadership development to explore how leaders can effectively address these challenges.
    .
    Event Highlights:
    .
The event kicked off with an insightful presentation from Ean Meyer, Sr Cybersecurity Engineer at GuidePoint, who shared valuable strategies for transforming Security Tabletop Exercises. Ean emphasized moving beyond simple checkbox exercises to creating truly impactful simulations that deliver real value and actionable insights.
    .
Next, Mehak Kalsi, a subject matter expert in Cybersecurity, Quantum Computing, and CMMC, took the stage with a deep dive into one of the most important topics of our time: Quantum Computing and its Implications. Mehak’s session was both accessible and thought-provoking, offering essential takeaways for professionals at every level. As a chapter member, Mehak deserves a double shout-out for generously sharing her expertise with the community.
    .
Michelle Hill, Account Manager at Tutela Solutions, provided an in-depth look at what it takes to build a high-performing Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) program. She covered key concepts from building a solid program foundation to prioritizing tasks, selecting the right tools, and aligning people. Her session offered practical guidance for anyone looking to strengthen their organization’s risk management framework.
    .
Alex Brown, Content Marketing Manager at Descope, wrapped up the event with a session on improving Security while enhancing User Experience (UX). Alex explored the critical role of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in modern security frameworks, addressing best practices, common myths, and key lessons learned from real-world implementations.
    .
A huge thank you to all of our speakers, event coordinators, and attendees for making this event a success. We look forward to continuing the conversation at our next chapter event!
