Third Party Security Assessments Overview (February 2019 Chapter Meeting)

Service providers today face a wide range of security compliance requirements based on their client base and types of data handled. Many times what security assessment will satisfy one client is different than what will satisfy another. This can been overwhelming to organizations with limited time and resources. This presentation will give an overview on the following types of commonly requested assessments: SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, SOC for Cybsersecurity, HITRUST, HIPAA, ISO 27001, ISO 27017/18, and PCI DSS. It will also address some considerations for determining the what assessments to include in their security compliance program.

Speaker Bio:
Doug Kanney is a Principal at Schellman & Company. Doug leads the HITRUST and HIPAA service lines and assists with methodology and service delivery across for the SOC, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001 service lines. Doug has more than 13 years of audit experience in public accounting with the specialization in security assessments. Doug has provided professional services for multiple Global 1000, Fortune 500, and regional companies during the course of his career.
