Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, all applicants must:

• Complete the Scholarship Application (below);
• Prepare and submit an original, typed (single-spaced, size 12 font) 2-3 page research essay with cited sources discussing a relevant information technology governance, risk, and assurance, or cybersecurity topic;
• Be a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student in good standing and currently enrolled at an accredited Greater Cincinnati Area college/university as of the scholarship award date and pursuing a degree focused in the field of information systems, computer science, and/or cybersecurity;
• Provide a copy of current transcript to verify enrollment (official and unofficial transcripts printed from the College’s/University's system are acceptable) with application entry; and
• Not be a current member of ISACA (except student members).

Scoring

Entries will be evaluated based upon the quality of research, quality of writing, originality of the topic, and the student’s demonstrated understanding of the topic. The winning essay will be selected by a panel of Greater Cincinnati ISACA Chapter Board Members.

Awards

Two applicants will be selected from all entries received across all Greater Cincinnati Area college/universities and awarded the following. Funds will be issued directly to the college/university on behalf of the student by the Greater Cincinnati ISACA Chapter.

• 1^st Place - $1,000
• 2^nd Place - $500

Additionally, the Greater Cincinnati ISACA Chapter will award both winning applicants with free registration and study materials for the ISACA Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX) Certificate examination ($200 value). Winning applicants must pass the CSX examination within three months of notification of submitting the winning entries to receive the full scholarship amount.

Further, colleges/universities with an active student ISACA chapter or a with a faculty member actively engaged in the Greater Cincinnati ISACA Chapter where the winning applicants are enrolled are eligible for a $250 academic department grant.

Lastly, both winning applicants will be hosted and recognized at a complementary Greater Cincinnati ISACA Chapter dinner meeting and educational presentation at the Original Montgomery Inn ($35 value). During announcements, the Greater Cincinnati ISACA Chapter President will describe the scholarship program, introduce the students, and have each student describe how/why they chose their topic, and share their CSX examination experience.
