A 2017 KPMG survey of company executives revealed 97% are concerned about cybersecurity and 22% stated cybersecurity keeps them up at night. Security threats can come from any source – internal or external. The foundation for adequately protecting corporations is a fundamental understanding of security needs, major strategies, and technology types available for defense as the building blocks of security protection. Security strategies, technologies and threats will continue to evolve so continued training is necessary to manage organization cyber risk. In order to avoid lecture-based instruction, gamification principles are introduced to motivate and engage training participants. This competitive cybersecurity simulation game introduces a variety of security strategies, concepts and technologies in an intrinsically motivating competitive setting. The Attack & Defense Cybersecurity Game simulation is tool to help develop foundational security understanding using basic gamification principles.
