Opportunities in the technology and cyberspace continue to grow. The United States Department of Labor estimates two-thirds of 1.1 million computing-related jobs by 2024 may be unfilled. Despite immense opportunities in technology sciences, according to the National Center for Women and Technology, only 19 percent of 2016 computer and information sciences bachelor's degree recipients were female. Attendees of ISACA Greater Washington DC's Women in Technology Conference will hear insights on thought leadership, innovation, opportunities and challenges surrounding women in today’s tech workforce.

MEET THE PRESENTERS

Katie Arrington

Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition ASD(A) for Cyber

As the cyber lead and programmatic analytic advisor for strategic cyber programs, Ms. Arrington is responsible for conducting analysis within the major defense acquisition program portfolio and across the Department of Defense. This cross functional analysis will ensure transparency within the acquisition strategy, interoperability between enterprise networks, and compliance strategies for cyber initiatives. She also meets with key Cyber personnel (across both DoD and Federal Agencies) as well as legislators to ensure that changes made in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) are supportive in reaching the goals of decreased spending and increased compliance with current and future standards. The final focal point will be on protecting the Department’s intellectual property/data and securing our weapon systems and critical infrastructure.  Before assuming her position in OUSD(A&S), Ms. Arrington had an extensive career as a legislator and senior cyber executive. Ms. Arrington was a candidate for South Carolina US House of Representative 2018 and a South Carolina State Representative for 2 terms.

Sonia Bashir Kabir

Sonia Bashir Kabir, a Female Tech Venture Capitalist, began her career as a Tech Corporate Professional and her journey led her to become a Tech Entrepreneur, an Angel Investor and a Philanthropist. She is the Founder & Chairman of SBK Tech Ventures, the first women-led impact VC for tech start ups in in South Asia. She has co-founded and invested in 25 startups that support the digital development of rural areas in different fields, ranging from FinTech and LegalTech to AgriTech and E-Commerce.  Sonia serves on various boards for different non-profits, institutions and development organizations. She is the Founder and Chairman of SBK Foundation, a non-profit which has established technology hubs in each of the 64 districts in Bangladesh to connect citizens in rural areas to crucial digital services, such as healthcare, legal, and financial services.  Sonia relocated to Bangladesh and served as the Country Director for Dell, Director Business Development for New Markets in South East Asia in Microsoft and Chief Operating Officer for Aamra Technologies.

Dr. Sandra Cruz-Pol

Program Director, National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center Program

Dr. Cruz-Pol received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University working with passive and active satellite sensors studying atmospheric gases and the sea surface emissivity. She worked in active remote sensing at UMass for her Masters degree. Her Bachelors degree is from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM). All three degrees were obtained with the Suma Cum Laude distinction. She joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UPRM in 1991. During her stay at NSF she was selected as the Federal Liaison for the U.S. National Committee for the International Union for Radio Science (URSI). At NSF she's a Program Director for the Engineering Research Center (ERC) program and the ERC International Center-to-Centre (C2C) Liaison.   She received the NASA Faculty Award for Research in 2002. Dr. Cruz-Pol is a Senior member of the IEEE. She was the Associate Editor for University Affairs for the IEEE GRSS Newsletter for 5 years.

Marianne Roth

Chief Risk Officer; Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)

Marianne Roth is the first Chief Risk Officer for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and manages its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program. Recently, Marianne received the Theodore Roosevelt Leadership in Government Award in the “Visionary” category for her work in implementing ERM at CFPB.  Prior to CFPB, Marianne served as the Branch Manager for ERM at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).  She oversaw all ERM activities at TSA and led the agency’s efforts to significantly mature its ERM program.  Marianne was the Director of the DHS Efficiency Review in the Office of the Secretary, Department of Homeland Security. She has worked for various consulting firms including BearingPoint and Booz Allen Hamilton where she led many complex process improvement engagements for diverse Federal clients.  Marianne holds a MA in Political Science from the University of Connecticut and a BA in Government from Franklin and Marshall College.

Naomi Klamen

Naomi is a successful cloud platform specialist with a 30-year record of aligning key business initiatives with cutting-edge technology solutions. In her current role, she manages a team of Solution Engineers focused on financial services. Naomi has been the lead architect on multiple transformational opportunities helping sales teams consistently over achieve revenue targets by growing footprint and a strong pipeline in the large accounts. She is a trusted partner to sales leaders as well as CIOs/CTOs at strategic customers. Naomi directly works with customers throughout the Sales Cycle focusing on Cloud, Integration and Data Analytics technologies.

Jina Etienne

Jina is an author and speaker on leadership, diversity & inclusion, small firm operations & practice management and tax ethics. She has created, developed and delivered a variety of keynotes, conference sessions, webinars and other training, as well as facilitated meetings, retreats and workshops – all designed to be engaging, practical, immediately applicable to real-world situations. Jina is a story-teller and draws from her unique background and mix of work experiences to offer examples and share insights. She speaks candidly about her experiences, sharing the lessons that helped her understand the importance and value of authenticity, curiosity and individuality, and how she fueled it to grow her personal brand.

Teresa Allison

VP of Programs & Events, ISSA DC Chapter

Teresa is an IT Consultant with over 18 years of experience in the field of information technology consulting. She provides cybersecurity policy, risk, governance, compliance support to Federal CIOs and CISOs for multi-million dollar federal information technology programs. Teresa assisted a global strategy consulting firm in implementing IT security and privacy policies to comply with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Teresa is a certified IT professional who currently holds the CISSP, CGEIT, CISA, CCSK, Security+, PMP, CSM, ITIL and Lean Six Sigma certifications. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University’s H. John Heinz III College with a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management and a minor in Management of Information Systems. She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Xavier University. She currently serves as a volunteer for the Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu which encourages women to pursue careers in Cybersecurity. She also coordinates higher education outreach programs for the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a member of the Higher Education Partnerships committee.

CPE Information

Earn up to 7 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits in the area of Specialized Knowledge. The ISACA® GWDC is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: http://www.learningmarket.org.

CPE Distribution and Evaluation Survey

CPE's will be distributed via e-mail along with the event evaluation survey up to seven (7) business days after the completion of the event. Attendees must be present the full day to receive full CPE credit.
