Web Meeting: Secure Cloud Migration with Angela Rittenbach

When:  Sep 21, 2020 from 11:30 to 13:00 (CT)
Associated with  Huntsville Chapter
Topic:  Secure Cloud Migration
Speaker: Angela Rittenbach
CPE Hours: 1

Background: The Capital One breach in 2019 exposed personal details for more than 106 million people. The exposure was one of several high-profile examples of the potential vulnerabilities exposed during cloud migrations. The company’s failure to identify weaknesses and gaps in the cloud operating environment and implement necessary network security controls led to enormous data losses. Companies of all sizes struggle to take advantage of the ease of deployment and maintenance associated with cloud models while balancing the additional requirements to adapt security culture and tools to a new cloud computing reality. Meanwhile, the Federal government moves to adopt a ‘Cloud Smart’ position. Cloud and IT practitioners find it challenging to maintain a consistent secure cloud posture across local and cloud-based resources. In this discussion, learn more about cloud architecture foundations, migration strategies and security frameworks to ease the risks of distributed cloud-based networks.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand key security considerations related to cloud migration projects
    Focus on:
    • Cloud architecture foundation
    • Developing secure migration strategies
    • Establishing a security framework for consistent practices across multiple environments
