CMMC Overview with Q&A, Chandler Hall and Steve Pratt

When:  Jan 13, 2020 from 11:30 to 13:00 (CT)
Associated with  Huntsville Chapter
Topic:  CMMC Overview with Q&A
Speaker: Chandler Hall
CPE Hours: 1

Background: The CMMC will be a more difficult standard for most DoD Contractors to obtain their compliance. It will cost more money to implement and meet the requirements, as well as obtain an audit and official accreditation. Unlike the similar DFARS 252.204-7012/NIST SP 800-171 requirements, companies MUST implement 100% of the CMMC controls to meet this upcoming requirement. It is critical to keep abreast of the CMMC program as it solidifies toward the stated October 2020 deadline for new contracts requiring CMMC accreditation. Companies cannot wait to get these controls implemented in order to schedule and pass their audit in the first attempt.

Learning Objectives:
  • The current state of the upcoming Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) will be discussed.
  • Audience members will be introduced to the CMMC program, standard, expectations, and current schedule.
  • The discussion will provide a good understanding of the multiple public industry listening sessions that have been conducted in various locations throughout the USA.
  • Chandler Hall will lead the overview, providing insights into his input into the formation of the standard.
  • Audience members should takeaway current expected schedule milestones, general understanding of the five layer CMMC model, help determining what level compliance might be required, and concerns that should be considered for 2020.
