How Gen Z is Shaping the Future of Cybersecurity - ILLOWA Chapter - Facilitator Led Session Inspired

Join us for an interactive session led by our Vice President of the ILLOWA Chapter!  We'll explore the themes of a pre-recorded video as part of the SheLeadsTech series on technology, and facilitate live break-out sessions for our participants!  This is a unique event open to ALL members of our Chapter.

Context:

Gen Z brings a distinct perspective to cybersecurity—shaped by growing up online, witnessing major breaches firsthand, and entering a workforce transformed by AI. Kyla Guru (Head of Model Cyber Safety at Anthropic) will draw on her experience founding two international nonprofits, Bits N’ Bytes and GirlCon, captaining the first all-female cyber competition team to win national championships at Stanford, and now leading model cyber safety at Anthropic. She’ll share actionable strategies for emerging professionals looking to accelerate their careers—and for leaders seeking to attract and empower next-generation talent. The talk will explore why cybersecurity is such a high-impact field, how gen-zennials are well-prepared to meet future workforce needs, and why human skills like judgment, communication, and adaptability matter more than ever.
