Mr. Michael Atingi-Ego
Deputy Governor, Bank of Uganda 

Mr. Michael Atingi-Ego is a distinguished economist and currently serves as the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda. With over 30 years of experience in central banking, macroeconomic policy, and financial regulation, Dr. Atingi-Ego has played a pivotal role in shaping Uganda’s economic policies and ensuring financial stability.

 Prior to his current role, he held key leadership positions at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and served as Executive Director at the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI), where he championed sound economic governance across the region. His expertise in monetary policy, economic management, and financial oversight has made him a crucial figure in Uganda’s financial sector development.

 As a thought leader at the forefront of Uganda’s digital transformation, Dr. Atingi-Ego emphasizes the critical role of cybersecurity in safeguarding financial stability. He is dedicated to advancing secure, resilient financial systems in the face of rising cyber threats and rapid technological innovation.
