AccordingtoISACA’s2019reportonthestateofthecybersecuritythefindingsare:(1)technicallyproficientcybersecurityprofessionalscontinuetobeinshortsupplyanddifficulttofind,(2)retainingcybersecurityprofessionalsisexceptionallydifficultandthecurrententicementofemployer-paidtrainingandcertificationarenotensuringretention,(3)genderdiversityprogramsmaybedecliningandtheireffectivityisdirectionallylowerand(4)cybersecuritybudgetincreasesareexpectedtoslowslightly.
Whilebasedonthe2019annualstudyofcybercrimebyAccentureandPonemonInstitute,theypresentedthefollowinginsights:(1)targetsareevolving,frominformationthefttodestructionanddisruptionofcoresystemssuchasindustrialcostsystems,(2)Impactisevolving,fromdatabeingcopied(confidentiality),nowit’sbeingdestroyedorchanged(integrity)and(3)techniquesareevolving,cybercriminalsareadaptingtheirattackmethodsagainsthumans–theweakestlinkthroughincreasedphishingandmaliciousinsiders.Italsohighlightstheincreaseofaveragecostofcybercrimein2018ascomparedto2017from$11.7Mt0$13Mor12%increaseand72%increaseinthelastfive(5)years.Thevalueatriskoffromdirectandindirectcyberattacksamountsto$5.2T.
Therefore,itisnecessaryfororganizationstohaveastructuredandefficientprogramfacethesecybersecuritychallenges.Thiscoursewillassistparticipantsinidentifyingtheircriticalassetsandservices,identifyingcyberriskscenariosthatwillimpactitsconfidentiality,integrityandavailability,analyzingthesecyberriskscenariosastolikelihoodandimpactanddefiningandimplementingthenecessarycountermeasurestominimizetheimpactandlikelihoodofthesescenarios.
