In this presentation, Bryghtpath Principal & Chief Executive Bryan Strawser will share the keys to successful crisis leadership, including characteristics of strong crisis leaders, effective planning and preparedness efforts, the secrets of situational awareness, communicating during a crisis, and case studies of national scale incident response

Presenter: Bryan Strawser, MBCP, MBCI, CISSP, CPP

Bryan Strawser is Founder, Principal, and Chief Executive at Bryghtpath LLC, a strategic advisory firm he founded in 2014. He has more than twenty-five years of experience in the areas of, business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, enterprise risk, intelligence, and crisis communications.

At Bryghtpath, Bryan leads a team of experts that offer strategic counsel and support to the world’s leading brands, public sector agencies, and nonprofit organizations to strategically navigate uncertainty and disruption.

Bryan previously worked for Target Corporation where he built and led the retailer’s Global Crisis Management, Business Continuity, and Global Intelligence function. The work of Bryan and his team at Target was recognized through numerous awards from FEMA, the International Association of Emergency Managers, and the Business Continuity Institute. Bryan also served previously as Chief Security Officer & Director of Global Security for Apollo Education Group and the University of Phoenix.

In addition to his role at Bryghtpath, Bryan currently holds an appointment as a Senior Fellow in the Center for Cyber & Homeland Security at Auburn University where his focus is on public/private sector collaboration related to national security and cybersecurity issues – and an appointment as an associate member of the Forum for Private Security Research in the Department of Defence Studies at King’s College, London.

Bryan holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix and a MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He is currently a Master of Arts candidate in the International Relations & Contemporary War program in the Department of War Studies at King’s College, London. He is the incoming Editor in Chief of Strife, the Department’s academic journal and blog.
