Bio:
David Duccini is a well-regarded information security expert with real world “wire-to-web” e-commerce experience. In addition to having built an Internet Service Provider from scratch in the 1990s he has been on a self-described “tour of duty” consulting with Fortune 50 banks, insurance companies, utilities, telecom, biomedical, and recently retail. Mr. Duccini holds a Masters in Software Engineering from the University of St. Thomas and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management. A serial entrepreneur, he has been involved in a half dozen startups. He joined the crypto-currency movement in late 2010 and two years ago launched 2Give — an innovative pro-social stakeholder based cryptocurrency network.
His latest venture is an equity crowdfunding platform taking advantage of the MNvest regulations linked to a blockchain based system named Silicon Prairie Online.
When he’s not at the keyboard, he can usually be found practicing his pilot skills moving rescue dogs around the midwest in his Cessna 152. He lives in St. Paul with his wife Gabrielle and their two mini-dachshunds, Ginger and Duke.
Session Title: Real World applications for blockchain based distributed ledgers
Session Description: Bitcoin was introduced to the world over eleven years ago as an alternative currency platform that quickly has become a new gold standard in the storage and transfer of value. The underlying blockchain technology has its roots deep in software and systems engineering that goes back decades to the first revision control systems. In this session we’ll explore that brief history and the novel “consensus mechanisms” that make the technology disruptive as well as the real world examples of how it can be harnessed.
