Ransomware is Here to Stay. What are You Doing About It?

If there are still organizations out there with cyber vulnerabilities, there will be malicious actors looking to exploit those vulnerabilities for financial gain. In this presentation, Compass IT Compliance Virtual CISO Brian Kelly discusses some of the most common ransomware attack vectors he has witnessed throughout his career, along with the critical steps leadership must take to foster a culture of security awareness among team members.

Brian Kelly is a Virtual CISO with Compass IT Compliance. He has been an active member of the higher education information security community since 2007. Brian most recently served as the Cybersecurity Program Director at EDUCAUSE, and was previously the Chief Information Security Officer at Quinnipiac University. Brian holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree from Norwich University. He is a member of various professional organizations including the Information System Security Association (ISSA), InfraGard, High Tech Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA), and the Information Systems Audit (ISACA). Brian is a retired Air Force Cyber Operations Officer, where his career in information security began in 1993. Alongside his duties at Compass IT Compliance, Brian is also currently an adjunct instructor at Naugatuck Valley Community College in the CIS Department teaching Cybersecurity courses.
