October 2019 ISACA Puget Sound Chapter Meeting - October 15, 2019

When:  Oct 15, 2019 from 11:30 to 13:00 (PT)
Associated with  Puget Sound Chapter

Attacking and Defending Industries at Scale

What the talk is about:

  • This is a walkthrough of attacking an industry from the specific view of a modern attacker that is emulating nation-state techniques.
  • The key takeaway is that attack techniques are evolving fast due to automation but defenses are lagging behind because of a dependence on “old industry norms”. Things don’t have to be this way and modernizing defenses is easier than people think but they do have to change (update) the way they think about defense in order to move forward.

What the audience will gain:

  • A transformation in the way they view security.
  • An understanding of why economics is so important when it comes to security.
  • Learn about new attack methods and techniques used to target entire industries.
  • Learn about new defense methods which can radically reduce the cost of security.
  • Gain an understanding of the importance of scalability and automation when it comes to security.
