Whether your organization provides a product or a service, the organization’s primary goal is to provide that product or service…and to deliver it better / cheaper / faster than your competition. Sometimes, there can be so much focus on product / service delivery, management loses sight on controlling risks to the organization. Enter governance. It is important to have good governance over your organization’s control environment to prevent bad things from happening to the organization, things that could potentially cause catastrophic business failures leading to the demise of the business altogether.
The goal is to maximize risk reduction while minimizing the effort required. This session will discuss the importance of governance, share some models of good governance, and leading practices to do enough governance to prevent risks from getting out of hand, without causing business failure by taking too many resources away from operations.
