ISACA Silicon Valley Chapter (ISACA SV) is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace for all our Directors, Committee Members and Volunteers. We are equally committed to providing a welcoming organization for all our Chapter Members and Attendees to our events. Further, we actively urge our partners, sponsors, speakers, and supporters to make the same commitment. We believe that a diverse and inclusive environment is critical to our success and is essential to creating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and respect that represents the entirety of the professionals and community we can serve. We are committed to fostering a culture that is inclusive of different backgrounds, perspectives, experiences, and ideas, and that is free from discrimination, harassment, and bias.
ISACA-SV understands that diversity may be interpreted in different ways by different people and therefore defines it broadly to be inclusive of many different elements of human groups, but to focus particularly on: Racial and Ethnic Groups, Gender Identity and Expression, Sexual Orientation (LGBTQ+ populations), National Origin, Religion, Caste, Age, and People with Disabilities. Our objectives are to improve equity through promoting justice, impartiality, and fairness within the procedures, processes, and distribution of resources at ISACA-SV. And further, to increase inclusion and foster belonging which ensures diverse individuals can fully participate in organization decision-making processes. We will not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment based on the listed diversity characteristics.
We are dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our operations, including but not limited to:
-
Recruitment, hiring, and promotion
-
Professional development and training
-
Presenters and educational topic choice
-
Volunteer engagement and retention
-
Development and presentation of services
-
Social and recreational activities
-
Community outreach and partnerships
We acknowledge our inherent distinctions as individuals and the realisation that each person is unique. Skills, experience, thought, gender, age, disability, ethnicity, cultural or socioeconomic background, religion, sexual orientation, political or ideological beliefs, as well as other aspects like lifestyle and family duties, can all be seen as sources of inequality.
ISACA SV's diversity initiatives are applicable, but not limited, to our practices and policies and the ongoing development of a work environment built on the premise of gender and diversity equity that encourages and enforces:
-
Respectful communication and cooperation between all volunteers.
-
Teamwork and participation, permitting the representation of all groups and volunteer perspectives.
-
Work/life balance to accommodate volunteers’ varying needs.
-
Volunteer contributions to the communities we serve to promote a greater understanding and respect for diversity
All volunteers of ISACA-SV have a responsibility to always treat others with dignity and respect.
All volunteers are expected to exhibit conduct that reflects inclusion during Chapter operations and at all Chapter-sponsored and participative events.
Any volunteer found to have exhibited any inappropriate conduct or behavior towards others may be subject to disciplinary action. Volunteers who believe they have been subjected to any kind of discrimination that conflicts with the Chapter’s diversity policy and initiatives should seek assistance from leadership.
Our doors are open to all regardless of their race, caste, religion and sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Your ISACA Silicon Valley Chapter Diversity Committee has established an email to hear your thoughts about diversity and inclusion in the Chapter. The email address is << diversityinisaca-sv@sonic.net if external, or diversityinisaca-sv@isaca-sv.org.>>
We have published a new chapter Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (ID&E) policy to our website at <<link>>. We're hoping to hear your stories, so they might help us to fulfill our charter to create and enhance our education and activities and programs within the organization. We welcome any thoughts, challenges, ideas, or opportunities related to diversity in whatever way you'd like to interpret that; think of us as a clearinghouse for this sort of information.
In some cases, we might reply to you and ask if you'd like us to forward your note along for action (our group's charter does not involve taking action on specific issues or complaints) but we'll ask you if that's okay before we do.
Otherwise, your name will remain confidential within our committee though we may share the content of your story with ISACA SV leadership.
We may not be able to respond to every message, but we will read every message. We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
ISACA SV Diversity Committee
