March 2019 - Monthly Seminar

When:  Mar 26, 2019 from 18:30 to 20:30 (SG)
Associated with  Singapore Chapter
Topic Synopsis
Cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies, in general, are rapidly disrupting traditional financial services. While there are numerous benefits, concerns arise that cryptocurrencies enable greater ease of fraud and cybercrime. Beyond the current use in ransomware attacks, blockchain technologies could revamp established forms of malicious activity: data releases from breaches, malware C&C communications and DDoS activity. Malicious actors have also exploited vulnerabilities in the underlying technologies, resulting in severe financial losses over the past few years. In this session, we'll explore the players in the crypto ecosystem, review several high-profile incidents, hypothesize on future usage, and discuss a few tips to stay secure.
