Program overview

This program highlights the importance of IT professionals on the Data Protection obligations. It discusses areas of work where IT compliance to PDPA. Participants will better understanding of how IT audit and security measures are meeting the Data Protection obligation. 

This program will cover fundamental data protection requirements for a company that handles customer data in the region using IT systems. It also explains how IT audit activities can lead to mitigating privacy risks.

Training Methodology

This program is a mix of theory and practical aspect. After going through the basic understanding of data protection obligations, the participants will be taught how these obligations translate into practical activities in the IT audit exercise.

  5. The FAQ and related certifications on Privacy/Data Protection.

Biography of Mike Leow


Mike is the Privacy Engineering Lead at GrabTaxi Holdings Pte Ltd. Based in Singapore, he was tasked to set up the Privacy Engineering team where his role is to infuse privacy into the company that operates across South East Asia as well as the Research and Development Centres located China India and US. Besides infusing the Privacy culture into the company he translates the Privacy by Design concepts into a framework for the engineering team. His works include developing privacy tools, Privacy advisory work to the company and work closely with other departments to help the company to gain trust from our users.  


Mike is a member of Asia Advisory board for the International Association of Privacy Professionals and was appointed in Facebook APAC Platform Advisory council member. 


Prior to Grab, Mike spent 4 years with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Commission as an Investigation officer, where he investigates into data breaches and provide recommendations on a company that involved in data breaches. Mike is also the Technical investigator who performed a technical assessment on these companies on their security arrangements to protect the personal data. He was also a member of the “Data Protection Office”, where he carried out the data flow mapping exercise for the commission.


Mike was also the first 500 global Fellow of Information Privacy conferred in early 2017. He is also a CISA, CISM, CIPM, CIPT, and CIPP/A.  He holds a Bachelor degree in Information Technology and a Master of Science in Information Studies.
