Meet Charla Berry- ISACA Springfield Vice President

Hi, I’m Charla Berry, and I’ve been the Lead Information Security Analyst at Great Southern Bank for the past 4 years. My certifications include CRISC, CISA, and CISM, and I’m proud to have spent my career building a deep understanding of information security.

Originally, I’m from Springfield, Missouri, but I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I love everything about hockey (and pretty much all sports), with a special fondness for the Blues and attending live games. When I’m not at a game, you can usually find me spending time with my family, tending to my flower garden, or hanging out with my dog, Gus.

In addition to my professional role, I also serve as Vice President on the ISACA Board. I’ve been in this position for 3 years, and it’s been an amazing experience. I helped start and form the Springfield ISACA chapter back in 2011, serving as the first president. This has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done as a chapter to bring professionals together.

As for my involvement with ISACA, one of my favorite things about the organization is its globally recognized certifications. CISA, CISM, CRISC, and CGEIT are consistently ranked among the best-paying certifications, offering instant credibility and often better job opportunities. I admire how ISACA is always expanding its certification offerings to meet the evolving needs of the industry.

If there’s one piece of advice I’d give to members, it’s to get to know other members. Attend chapter events, conferences, and take time to network. You’d be amazed at how many valuable relationships you’ll build. I didn’t start volunteering with ISACA until 2009, after I moved from Oklahoma to Missouri, but it transformed my career and confidence. Volunteering has allowed me to connect with so many great people, and ISACA fosters incredible collaboration both locally and globally. It’s hard to put into words just how much I’ve learned and grown through my years of membership and volunteering.

That’s a little about me, and I’m always excited to see how ISACA continues to evolve and help members grow in this ever-changing field!
