CPS 234: A Cybersecurity Journey Complete with Challenges

Discussion of challenges and considerations on a 4-year journey towards better cybersecurity posture. Join the hybrid meeting with an option for in-person participation in Sydney.

Description

A review of Mine Super’s challenges and considerations on a four-year journey towards an improved cybersecurity posture in superannuation industry: a slow-moving industry in a rapidly evolving regulatory and economic environment. Supporting the business objectives to outsource the Group superannuation platform and put it into the cloud, requiring regulatory approval, assessing the gaps between the then current state and where we needed to be, through the process of identifying issues that demanded prioritised, pragmatic and CPS 234 compliant solutions, to their implementation and subsequent refinement.

The three key takeaways are:

  1. Adopt a pragmatic approach to progress rather than a best in breed.
  2. Executive sponsorship and active involvement are crucial to success
  3. Strong risk management is pivotal to effective cybersecurity
