Our second ISACA Toronto Chapter Meet-up on March 4, the 31st floor of the EY Tower (100 Adelaide West) at .  Meet-ups were inspired to create more opportunities for members to engage with one another during the year and earn a CPE while networking.  This session is free for members to attend and a CPE will be issued to attendees. 

Defining a privacy program is a complicated task. It is not only responding to regulations but also keeping stakeholders satisfied to maintain the digital trust and create value for the organization.

Join us in a conversation to understand what is being done around the world and in Canada to define an effective privacy program. We will discuss a summary of the Privacy Governance report prepared by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and EY as well as we will review the challenges organizations face to comply with PIPEDA and the GDPR.

Amalia Barthel, CIPM, CIPT, PMP, CISM

Amalia is providing Governance Risk and Compliance advisory services aimed at Privacy Offices and Compliance functions in the health/Pharma, banking, telecom FinTech industry and Tech. /Cloud companies, retail, advertising/marketing, aerospace and public sector around the world. Amalia has worked with CPOs and IT Security Sr. Mgmt in many organizations to advise on structuring the privacy program and alignment with internal GRC efforts.

Amalia is a passionate Privacy and Information Governance and Management professional who has made it her mission to educate businesses about the importance of privacy for their corporate reputation. 

Amalia is an Executive Board member with the KnowledgeFlow Not-for-Profit Foundation aimed at empowering youth and their communities to help them take control of their internet and stand united against cyberbullying, through cyber-safety tools, awareness and education.

Amalia has authored/ co-authored and is currently teaching business courses at of Toronto and Seneca College, in the areas of IT Risk Management, Cybersecurity Risk Governance and Privacy.

Amalia served on the Canadian IAPP Advisory Board, PMI (as Director on the Board of Directors of the Southern Ontario Chapter - SOC, now Toronto Chapter).

 

Carlos Chalico, LI, CISA, CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, ISO27000LA,

Carlos is , privacy and IT governance specialist with 23 years of experience. He started his career with EY in Mexico City in 1996 and now is leading the cybersecurity and practice for the private sector in Canada. He has helped many organizations in America and Europe. 

In addition to helping EY build a better working world, Carlos teaches at the UofT School of Continuing Studies and serves as a volunteer for the ISACA and the IAPP Toronto chapters.
