Special Meet-up for Newcomers to Canada (Registration closed)

ISACA Toronto in partnership with (ISC)2 Toronto, TRIEC and Deloitte are organizing a meet-up for members that have recently immigrated to Canada. This is a unique opportunity to gain some advise on tips for how to be successful in the job market, learn about mentorship opportunities and network with colleagues within the information systems audit, security, governance, risk and compliance domain. This event will be held at the Deloitte offices, on January 27, 2020 from 5pm to 9pm.

Newcomers and prospective mentors will get an introduction to TRIEC (Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council), the objectives of the mentoring partnership program, and the required commitment. In addition, the process will be outlined for how newcomers and mentors can get involved.

SPEAKER PROFILES

Baskaran Rajamani is a Senior Partner with Deloitte focused on Risk Advisory services. Baskaran specializes in helping Financial Services clients across lines of defense in dealing with the impact of technology, third party and emerging risks. He provides thought leadership on IT risk management audit/assurance frameworks, methodologies and optimization. Baskaran is a Faculty at Deloitte University in its Toronto and Dallas, TX campuses.

Baskaran is a popular speaker and has authored several technical papers on IT risk management and assurance, presented at conferences and seminars in different parts of the world. Baskaran is the co-author of Deloitte’s latest point of view of Integrated Risk Assurance. He holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and an MBA. His designations include CISA, CISSP and is a past President of the ISACA Toronto Chapter.

Tina Virmani, Learning Specialist, TRIEC Mentoring Partnership

As the Learning Specialist for TMP, Tina oversees the learning and professional development resources for mentors, including E-Learning, Webinars, workshops and networking opportunities. She facilitates TMP’s Orientation sessions and workshops for mentors on coaching and cross-cultural communication.

Tina holds a PhD in Political Science from York University, Toronto. She has designed and delivered courses on issues of discrimination, diversity and inclusion for university and college level programs.

Tina enjoys learning and sharing stories about the challenges, achievements and resilience of Canada’s diverse communities.
