These awards honor the creativity, dedication, and success of our community's top cybersecurity experts. We're excited to recognize their achievements and look forward to sharing this special occasion with you.

Award Categories:

Here are the categories for this year’s Cyber Excellence Awards, a celebration of the extraordinary individuals who dedicate themselves to keeping our digital world safe.  These awards shine a light on the diverse facets of cybersecurity excellence, recognizing those who innovate, protect, and inspire every day in this field.

Large Enterprise Cybersecurity Leadership Award (previously known as the BC CISO Award):

This prestigious award honors the outstanding achievements of CISOs, Directors of Information Security, vCISOs, or their equivalents in organizations with more than 1,000 employees. These leaders are recognized for their exemplary dedication and strategic vision in steering their cybersecurity initiatives, safeguarding their organizations against the ever-evolving cyber threats.

Cybersecurity Community Leadership Award:

This award acknowledges the exceptional individuals who serve as cybersecurity ambassadors. Their tireless efforts in leading large-scale community initiatives and advocating for cybersecurity professionals across British Columbia have set a benchmark for excellence and community engagement in the cybersecurity field.

Cybersecurity Practitioner Award:

Celebrating the backbone of our cybersecurity defenses, this award recognizes exceptional cybersecurity practitioners in non-management roles. These individuals are pivotal in advancing their organization’s security posture, demonstrating outstanding skill and commitment in their roles.

Small/Medium Enterprise Cybersecurity Leadership Award:

This award celebrates the cybersecurity leaders in organizations with fewer than 1,000 employees, such as Managers of Cybersecurity and vCISOs. It highlights their crucial role and impactful contributions in leading cybersecurity initiatives, proving that effective security leadership thrives in organizations of all sizes.

Instructions for Submitting Nominations for the 2025 Cyber Excellence Awards:

To submit a nomination for the Cyber Excellence Awards, please provide a detailed description of your nominee's achievements and contributions to the field of cybersecurity. Ensure your submission is at least 150 words long. Since the judging panel may not be familiar with the candidate, it's important to include comprehensive and specific information that clearly illustrates the nominee’s impact and qualifications.

Submission Guidelines:

1. Detailed Description: Clearly articulate how the nominee has excelled in their cybersecurity role. Describe specific instances, projects, and outcomes where the nominee demonstrated exceptional skill, leadership, innovation, and commitment to the industry.
2. Additional Supporting Material: You may include testimonials, project results, or any other supporting documents that can substantiate your claims and provide the judges with a clearer picture of the nominee’s merits.
