About this event
Hi Everyone,

Please join me for a fireside chat with CISO Jo-Ann Smith. She's has a long history of helping organizations mature their cyber security programs to better protect against the current threat landscape. We'll have an informal discussion where we can hear about her approach and challenges she's encountered maturing organizations' security capabilities.

Also please note we're starting at 1PM Pacific for this session.

Jo-Ann's Bio:

With over 25 years of experience as an IT security professional, Jo-Ann has held senior security positions with notable brands such as Best Buy and Vancity. During that time, she has distinguished herself as one of the industry’s leading experts in assessing the ever-changing threat landscape to identify and develop effective responses to protect an organization’s information assets.

Before becoming Long View Systems’ CISO, Jo-Ann was Director, Information Security at Vancity, where she led a cyber and forensic team. The team’s focus was developing and executing proactive cyber programs that achieved the necessary balance between effectively addressing potential threats while simultaneously enabling the organization’s strategic business objectives.

Technically strong and strategically experienced, as Long View’s new CISO, Jo-Ann brings an unprecedented level of expertise to one of the most demanding positions within a modern, digital enterprise.

Currently living in Vancouver, Jo-Ann and her husband Dave have four children. As with her business career, Jo-Ann’s level of commitment to take on new and exciting challenges in her personal life is notable. For example, as part of Canada’s FHC Masters Team, Jo-Ann competed in two World Cup tours. The family has recently undertaken a major project to renovate an old house in the Okanagan region in British Columbia with plans to dabble in grape growing and winemaking in the far off future as they recover the land!
