The entry point into our cyber security program, Cybersecurity Fundamentals (CSX-F) offers a certificate in the introductory concepts that frame and define the standards, guidelines and practices of the industry. The certificate and related training are an ideal way to get started on a career in cyber security. These skills are in high demand, as threats continue to plague enterprises around the world. This course will cover each major subject area included in the CSX Fundamentals certification curriculum, with a focus on the factual and contextual knowledge required to be a CSX Fundamentals certificate holder.

IMPORTANT: To obtain the ISACA CSX-F certification, you must register for and complete the ISACA-administered online examination — please note that this examination process is completely separate from the local ISACA Victoria Chapter course which we are offering.

Instructors:

Adam Khan

Adam brings experience in cybersecurity assessments; vulnerability assessments; penetration testing; security policy formation and implementation; and network security architecture review. He primarily applies his information security skills within the healthcare, technology, and media industries. He regularly mentors new cybersecurity talent and assists in conducting cyber workshops and tabletop exercises for his clients across the US and Canada. He obtained a Bachelor’s of Applied Information Science in 2008 and a Bachelor’s of Science in 2011 which provide him with a breadth of knowledge encompassing the areas of business, network security, and the biological sciences. He is an enthusiastic contributor to building technical teams while facilitating the development of foundational cybersecurity and consulting skillsets.


Kimberley Dray

Kimberley Dray is currently a senior information security analyst with over 20 years experience working in the BC Education system. Her current responsibilities include: incident management and response, risk and vulnerability assessments, process and procedural documentation and improvements, log analysis, threat monitoring, site assessments in collaboration with the Privacy and Records Management offices and security awareness initiatives amongst her clients.

Kimberley has gained progressive technical expertise as a cybersecurity specialist and leader through her job roles as an Information Security Analyst, Systems Analyst, Network Administrator, Information Technology Manager, as well as early career opportunities to work with students in IT and the CISCO Networking Academy program. This has contributed to her continued development and specialization across all cybersecurity domains.

Kimberley has a Bachelor of Education degree, and multiple information security certifications, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP-ISC2), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP-ISC2), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM -ISACA) and GIAC-GSEC (SANS) Security Essentials.

Kimberley supports and volunteers with local information security certification chapters and community, is presently the ISACA Communications Director and Social Media Manager. She is keen to work with her colleagues and industry leaders to build programs, mentor, guide and continue to send the message that there are diverse opportunities available now and on the horizon. The cybersecurity industry is accessible not only to those up and coming to the workforce but also for many already in a wide range of non-IT/tech disciplines.
