Description:

Data is ubiquitous making data governance increasingly a challenge and a lever to the success of any enterprise. Data is recognized as having value like any other asset and big data and IoT are accelerating the evaluation of data industry. This whitepaper introduces key concepts of data governance and management and discusses real-world application of these concepts through ‘use cases’ pertinent to enterprises, government and society. 

The major sections of the whitepaper are currently anticipated to include:

  • data governance (following COBIT 2019 framework – 7 components section)
  • data standardization
  • data quality (COBIT 5 enabling information)
  • data analysis and visualization
  • performance management of data management (following COBIT 2019 framework - performance management section)
  • a fictionalized case study based on several real-life use cases

Anticipated outcomes:

  • Share practical experiences in the design and implementation of data governance and management programs using the COBIT 2019 framework and other relevant guidance.
  • Provide meaningful data management life cycle guidance without a primary focus on data security/protection.

Volunteer Criteria:

  • Extensive subject matter expertise in COBIT (particularly COBIT 5 Enabling Information) and/or DAMA and/or CMMI’s Data Management Maturity (DMM) Model
  • Information governance, data management, data architecture, data modeling,
  • Experience implementing COBIT in an enterprise
  • Geographic area considered for diversity
  • At least one volunteer fluent in English and Chinese
  • ISACA Membership not required.

Volunteer benefits:

  • Up to 5 CPE credits (max. 20 annually) in the area of Contributions to the Profession to be claimed upon successful completion of the term.

Time commitment:

  • Subject Matter Review Period: October 18-25, 2019.
