Description:

This group of volunteers will participate in the review of a 5G security white paper to further ISACA’s information security portfolio. The paper will cover the benefits of 5G compared to previous mobile technologies, provide an overview of 5G (including architecture and layers of security), review 5G security architecture in addressing identified threats and risk associated with previous cellular network technologies, and identify new threats and risk associated with 5G technology. The group’s deliverables will consist of feedback on the technical accuracy of the paper as well as assessment of the value of the paper to ISACA’s thought leadership portfolio.

Anticipated outcomes:

The volunteers will support the delivery of the 5G Security white paper by reviewing a draft for:

  • Technical accuracy; and
  • Depth of knowledge appropriate for those working with or need knowledge of 5G technologies

Anticipated review dates are 23 October – 30 October 2020 but may be flexible depending on the final draft development schedule.

Volunteer Criteria:

  • A working knowledge of all generations of cellular network technologies
  • An understanding of the changes in architecture, hardware formfactor, frequency usage and security 5G technologies utilize compared to previous generations of mobile networks
  • Knowledge of cellular technology threats
  • An understanding of risks associated with cellular technologies

Volunteer benefits:

  • Up to 4 CPE credits (max. 20 annually) in the area of Contributions to the Profession upon successful completion of the term.
