Title: Struggling to articulate the true value of IT risk management to IT and business stakeholders? Stuck in a perpetual tick-box exercise? Limited to security risk?

Join us to learn how to leverage ISACA guidance to structure and align your IT risk management practice from A to Z in a practical way that speaks to both technology and business outcomes.

We’ll cover the following topics:

  • Choose your approach – What level of formality or detail suits your organisation?
  • Start at the beginning – What’s the role of business and IT objectives in IT risk management?
  • Uncover uncertainty – Where does risk/opportunity come from?
  • So what – What are some practical approaches to gauge these uncertainties?
  • Now what – Where is investment required and how would you advocate for it?
  • Maintenance – How would you ensure IT risk management remains a living practice?”

WORKSHOP - Afternoon

Location: KPMG, Level 6, 44 Bowen Street, Wellington

Date: Thursday 14 November

Registrations: Open at 12:30. Workshop starts at 13:00 and concludes at 16:30

Title: "The Joy of Big Room Thinking"

Description: This workshop will explain the widely used Open Space Technology, then our variant "Teal Space", and some of the specialised templates we use for specific outcomes. We will walk through some examples, then look at the potential pitfalls to avoid. We will end with discussing potential applications in your own organisations. (We will also discuss how it does and doesn't relate to SAFe PIs).We make extensive use of events styled on the Open Space principles, to bring many people together for half a day or a day, both physically and virtually, to get stuff done. We have designed and created a digital product in one day; created the quarterly improvement programme for IT in a government department; designed and planned an entire new service to customers; agreed vision, strategy, portfolio, and critical improvements, for multiple clients; and many other major advances. You can cut the crap, eliminate email ping-pong, overcome bureaucratic sclerosis, and get general consent from all stakeholders... and have a lot of fun doing it.
