Topic: " Impact of GDPR in India and Proposed PDP Bill 2018"
Session Abstract:
Personal Data Protection Act 2018 (PDPA 2018) is the new law being considered by the Parliament and is likely to bring about a substantial change in the regulatory system affecting the IT industry in India.
GDPR has made a significant impact in the Indian Companies waking up to the developments on Data Protection and has been the inspiration for the PDPA 2018.
The discussions will focus on how the principles of Data Protection have been handled by GDPR and PDPA 2018 and their relevance to the Indian Data Processing industry, the Data Protection professionals and the Audit community.
During the discussions, a general overview of the provisions of the Bill will be presented along with a brief comparison with GDPR and ITA 2000/8. The impact of the Bill on the “Audit” community would also be discussed. It is a session meant to sensitize the professional community to the opportunities and challenges ahead both for the Companies and the professionals in the related area.

Na.Vijayashankar is a thought leader in India in application of Behavioral Science to the field of Information Security and has published unique concepts such as Theory of Information Security Motivation, Cyber Offendo mania etc.
