Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Planning: Making Plans and Executing Them (Now)

When:  May 11, 2020 from 11:30 to 12:30 (CT)
Associated with  Middle Tennessee Chapter

We’ve all heard the age-old adage “failing to plan is planning to fail.” Most mid-size to large businesses have regulatory requirements that they not only have a plan but exercise it periodically. However, many of these plans may or may not specifically include pandemic plans, and even when they do, few if any foresaw events as widespread and economically damaging to operations as COVID-19. The Middle Tennessee Chapter of ISACA has assembled an outstanding panel ready to take on your questions, including:

  • If drafting your pandemic business continuity plan (BCP) or disaster recovery plan (DRP) for the first time for your business, it can be daunting – what are some relevant resources you can turn to for help?
  • The current crisis escalated quickly in a matter of weeks, what key factors should be emphasized this pandemic in an evolving plan and how can new knowledge be incorporated quickly into the plan that may require changes to be endorsed by remote, executive leadership?
  • How should crisis communication be centralized both for the external public and internally for employees? Can anyone in your organization address the media, or only certain people? How do you educate your workforce and provide official business communication channels?
  • How do you manage critical 3rd party vendors during a crisis? Have you ensured their SLAs match your business needs during a disaster? How do you best ensure they are as prepared as your company is to navigate a crisis?
  • How do you best ensure business managers and essential staff understand their roles in a crisis and how to best escalate issues to management?
  • What upgrades should managers reconsider in the current pandemic to add remote capabilities and security?
