IT Audit from Enterprise Tech to Micro Lender - Building an IT audit function from large to small

About this Event

How do you build an IT Audit organization for a cloud enabled world every penny counts? How do you manage technology risks for a rapidly growing early stage venture micro lender where technology risks are endless? Varo Money is a cloud enabled bank ecosystem founded in San Francisco in 2015, initially limited to the iOS platform, now spanning multiple device types. As a cloud centric web enabled banking platform, the necessity of an effective audit organization becomes a requirement as technology risks and banking regulations intersect as growth is pursued. Building an IT Audit function carefully with skills anchored in technology and risk awareness rooted in banking regulation, requires careful navigation, with many obstacles, from orienting engineering leadership on internal control requirements to communicating improvements. Come listen to Rick Farr, a technology audit veteran, with 20+ years’ experience in large technology organizations, share his practices, insight, and learnings, in moving from the large to the small, and tailoring an IT Audit model that instills trust and repeatability for the next generation of a cloud enabled technology driven fintech micro bank.

This will be an engaging discussion for any technology auditor, IT risk professional, or compliance specialist seeking to understand how to transition and transform in thinking about IT audit and control across technology platforms and everything as a service transitions.

Speaker: Rick Farr, IT Audit Director

Speaker Bio: Rick is currently an IT Audit Director at Varo Money, after spending an illustrious 24 year career as an IT Manager and IT Audit Director for HP, Rick was instrumental in architecting the future of IT audit as HPE separated from HP in 2015 and transitioning with his team. After navigating the HP- HPE separation, Rick established an IT data analytics audit function to further enable the next generation technology audit function. Now, taking a page from the large technology marketplace, Rick has transitioned to banking with the intent to be the architect for the next generation IT audit organization in a cloud enabled fintech organization.
