Welland Chu is the Secretary and Vice President (Certification) of the ISACA China Hong Kong Chapter. He also contributes to the Data Governance Think Tank at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation. In his primary role, Welland is the Cyber Security Specialist at Thales, an international corporation that safeguards over 80% of the world’s banking transactions daily. With 31 years of experience in the security industry, Welland has led teams of security professionals in implementing security solutions and conducting independent cybersecurity assessments for enterprises and governments. His expertise supports their digital transformation journeys, including cloud migration, Fintech, traditional payment systems, and personal data privacy. Welland holds a Ph.D. from King’s College London and is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). He is a frequent speaker at lectures and seminars, addressing both public and private sector audiences, domestically and internationally, including at INTERPOL events.
