Professor Frank Yam has more than 30 years of experience in the field of governance, auditing, risk management and cyber-security. He is currently the Chairman & CEO of Focus Strategic Group Inc. Professor Yam was the President of ISACA China Hong Kong Chapter from 1996-1998. He also served six terms on the ISACA Board of Directors, as well as more than 50 terms of offices in various ISACA international boards and committees, including the Governance Committee, Nomination Committee, Strategic Advisory Committee, Membership Board, and Certification Board. Professor Yam is a well-respected leader in the community and an icon for ISACA. He was often referred to as the “super-connector" and "super-value-adder". Professor Yam was awarded the John Kuyers Award for Best Speakers in 2002, the ISACA Outstanding Chapter Leader Award in 2021, Hall of Fame in 2022, and the prestigious Eugene Frank Founder's Award in 2022.
Professor Yam has been very active in promoting ISACA, its certifications, and COBIT, via presentations at international, regional, and local conferences and seminars. He has also conducted more than 4000 hours of workshops on topics relating to IT Governance, Security and Audit all over the world. In recent years, he has been focusing on promoting the awareness and best practices of Innovation based on Design-Thinking, Corporate and IT Governance, Internal Audit, Risk Management and Internal Controls, Frauds, Emerging Technologies, and Cyber-security.
Professor Yam is the recipient of the top alumni honor, Alumni Achievement Medal, by the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Mathematics, and the Outstanding Student Award from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The Police Force of the Hong Kong Government has also recognised him with the Cyber Security Audit & Consulting Gold Award in 2023. He was also Founder of the ACFE Hong Kong Chapter. Professor Yam currently serves as a Governor of the IIA Hong Kong, and a Certification Board Member of the Hong Kong Institute for IT Professional Certification established by the Hong Kong Government. He was the first ISACA leader appointed as Adjunct Professor by the Nanjing Audit University, the largest academic institution for auditing in Mainland China. Professor Yam received the Outstanding Contribution in the Field of Internal Audit Award from the Asian Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (ACIIA) in 2024.
