The ISACA Detroit Chapter kicked off 2025 with a remarkable chapter meeting held on January 23rd at the MSU Management Education Center in Troy, Michigan. Attendees had the flexibility to join in person or virtually via Zoom, making it accessible for everyone.

The evening started with a lively networking session. This provided a great opportunity for professionals to reconnect and establish new relationships in a relaxed setting.

Key Highlights

We were honored to host an incredible lineup of speakers who shared their knowledge and expertise on two highly relevant topics:

  • Topic 1: "Synthetic Reality - Exploring AI Deepfakes"
    Daimon Geopfert, Partner at PwC, delivered a thought-provoking session on the rapidly evolving landscape of AI deepfake tools. He discussed how hackers leverage these technologies to create highly convincing verbal and visual messages to facilitate social engineering attacks. The presentation shed light on the growing dangers of synthetic reality and its implications for businesses and individuals alike.
  • Topic 2: "Scaling Cyber Compliance for Risk Resiliency"
    Thomas Coran (Lear Corporation), Beth McKenney (KPMG), and Charlie Murray (KPMG) shared practical strategies for managing cyber compliance across complex, global organizations. The discussion focused on creating innovative approaches to navigate new regulations and meet rising customer expectations. Attendees gained valuable insights into building risk resiliency in today's dynamic regulatory environment.

The engaging presentations were followed by a lively Q&A session, where participants had the opportunity to dive deeper into the topics with the speakers.
