Summary of the positions available for election with the ISACA Huntsville Chapter:
The Chapter President:
(Estimated Monthly Time Commitment: 30-40 hours)
The chapter president is the executive head of the chapter and is usually seen by the membership and the community as the local representative of ISACA. The president ensures chapter activities and efforts provide professional and personal growth for the members, as well as chapter sustainability.
The chapter president executes the policies and decisions of the chapter board by:
· Ensuring chapter board policies are followed.
· Taking executive action where/when specific policies have not been written or established.
· Leading the annual strategic planning process to identify goals and objectives for the chapter, ensuring those align with ISACA’s global mission and initiatives; and
· Establishing a chapter calendar, including target dates for task completion.
The Chapter Vice President:
(Estimated Monthly Time Commitment: 20-25)
The chapter vice president is the co-lead of the chapter and usually is seen by the membership and the community as the local representative of ISACA. You will assist the chapter president in directing the chapter activities and efforts to ensure professional and personal growth for the membership, as well as chapter sustainability. The chapter vice president reports to the chapter president.
· Preside at meetings of the Chapter and the Chapter Board, in the absence of the President
· Help the chapter president with directing chapter activities and establishing a chapter calendar, including target dates for task completion
· Perform the duties of the President in the event of his/her absence or disability, and Perform other duties as pertain to this office.
· Act as liaison between committees and the chapter board, as needed. Ensure performance standards for committees are maintained. Provide support, as needed
Treasure / Finance Director:
(Estimated Monthly Time Commitment: 10-15 hours)
The chapter treasurer usually is seen by the membership and the community as a local representative of ISACA. You will assist the chapter board in chapter activities and efforts to ensure professional and personal growth for the membership, as well as chapter sustainability. The chapter treasurer reports to the chapter president.
As the chapter treasurer, your chapter members have expressed their confidence and trust in you to oversee the funds of the chapter, as well as other responsibilities, such as tax filings, state/local and other mandated reporting, and maintaining insurance for the chapter.
· Maintain Chapter finances and records
· Submit books and records for audit annually, or more frequently when required
· Financial correspondence
Secretary:
(Estimated Monthly Time Commitment: 5-10 hours)
The chapter secretary usually is seen by the membership and the community as the local representative of ISACA. You will assist the chapter board in chapter activities and efforts to ensure professional and personal growth for the membership, as well as chapter sustainability. The chapter secretary reports to the chapter president.
· Assist with scheduling of meetings and issues meeting notices for board and chapter meetings
· Take Minutes from board meetings
· Chapter Records Management
Communication:
(Estimated Monthly Time Commitment: 10-12 hours)
This person/group notifies members of upcoming chapter events, oversees involvement with sponsorship of third-party events, and determines the appropriate avenues for chapter communications (e.g., website, newsletter, social media, email).
· Notifies chapter members and other interested parties of chapter events and activities.
· Responsible for all chapter communications, including, but not limited to, the publication of a monthly newsletter
· Encourages member articles in association publications.
Audit Chair:
(Estimated Monthly Time Commitment: 5-8 hours)
The audit chair/committee audits the accounts and financial records of the chapter in accordance with sound accounting practices. This person/group also reviews the results of the independent/third-party audit with the chapter treasurer, submits a written report of the audit results to the chapter board, and presents results of the audit at a chapter meeting. The audit certificate or verification letter is to be submitted annually to the Chapter Experience team via ISACA Support to remain compliant with ISACA.
· Reviews the procedures and format of the audit report and recommends any necessary changes to the treasurer and/or chapter board.
· Recommends changes to the chapter’s accounting and/or auditing procedures to ensure the best possible system.
· Obtains the chapter’s accounts and financial records for annual review
Director, Marketing:
(Estimated Time Commitment: 5-10 hours)
This person/group works with the communications chair, if the role exists in the chapter, to align all activities.
· Serves as a liaison with third parties that request chapter sponsorship or advertising of their events to the chapter membership.
· Responsible for assisting with publicity for chapter events and, as deemed appropriate by the chapter board, and interacting with media contacts to obtain coverage of chapter events.
SheLeads Tech Chapter Liaison:
(Estimated Monthly Time Commitment: 10 hours)
The SheLeadsTech chapter liaison serves as the liaison between the chapter/local community and ISACA Global. This individual helps promote SheLeadsTech events and activities and leads the charge for chapter-based/local SheLeadsTech events and activities.
· Serves as the liaison between the SheLeadsTech program lead at ISACA Global and the local chapter.
· Creates strategy and plans for SheLeadsTech programming at the chapter/local level.
· Serves as the “face” of the SheLeadsTech program at the chapter/local level, including presentations to the chapter board, at chapter events, and to outside organizations.
Rising Professional Liaison:
(Estimated Monthly Time Commitment: 10 hours)
ISACA defines rising professionals as an inclusive approach to the next generation of practitioners such as those who are in school, recently completed their educational path, or are transitioning from a different professional field into one of ISACA’s domains. By enabling their success, ISACA can secure the future of the industry and our organization.
· Understands the needs of the rising professionals community.
· Liaises with the chapter board when communicating the requirements and aspirations of rising professionals.
· Organizes programs and events to facilitate communication among rising professionals (e.g., networking, social, and mentoring).
