The ISACA Orange County Chapter (“Chapter,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to handling your personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and retain personal information when you visit our website at https://isacaoc.com/ (the “Site”), register for or attend our events, communicate with us, volunteer with us, or otherwise interact with the Chapter.

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “personal information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked with an identified or identifiable individual.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Chapter and this Site only. It does not apply to the websites, mobile applications, products, or services of global ISACA or any other ISACA chapter, each of which may have its own privacy notice or policy.

1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect:

  • through this Site;
  • through event registration, event websites, and chapter communications;
  • through online or offline chapter meetings, webinars, conferences, training sessions, and related activities;
  • through volunteer, committee, board, speaker, sponsor, and attendee interactions; and
  • through other direct interactions you may have with the Chapter.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to:

  • third-party websites, platforms, or services linked from our Site;
  • information processed solely by third-party providers under their own privacy notices; or
  • information governed by separate notices or agreements.

2. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or operational needs. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after any updates are posted means the updated Privacy Policy will apply going forward, subject to applicable law.

B. Information Collected Through Event and Marketing Platforms

We may use third-party service providers, including Cvent, to support event marketing, event registration, attendee communications, mobile event functionality, onsite event administration, and payment processing. Through these tools, we may collect or receive personal information such as:

  • registration and attendance details;
  • contact information;
  • employer and title;
  • payment-related information;
  • event preferences;
  • check-in or participation information;
  • mobile event app profile or engagement information, depending on event configuration; and
  • other information you choose to provide in connection with an event or chapter program.

C. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Site or interact with chapter event pages or tools, we or our service providers may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, such as:

  • IP address;
  • browser type and version;
  • operating system;
  • device type;
  • pages visited;
  • referral source;
  • date and time of access;
  • app or platform usage information; and
  • other standard website or platform log data.

4. How We Use Personal Information

  • to provide and manage chapter programs, meetings, training, webinars, conferences, and events;
  • to create and manage event registration records;

  • to send event-related, operational, and chapter communications;
  • to support mobile event features, attendee engagement, and onsite check-in;
  • to respond to inquiries and requests;
  • to communicate about chapter news, educational opportunities, sponsorship opportunities, volunteer activities, and upcoming events;
  • to administer chapter operations and governance activities;
  • to maintain attendance and CPE-related records where applicable;
  • to improve the Site, chapter services, communications, and attendee experience;

5. How We Share Personal Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share personal information in the following circumstances:

  • with service providers that help us operate the Site, administer events, process registrations, send emails, host event pages, manage mobile event functionality, support onsite operations, store data, or process payments, including Cvent and related service providers;
  • with Chapter volunteers, officers, directors, committee members, or administrative support personnel who need the information for legitimate Chapter purposes;
  • with global ISACA or other ISACA chapters when reasonably related to chapter operations, event coordination, membership support, reporting, or program administration;
  • with professional advisors such as legal, accounting, insurance, or audit advisors when necessary;
  • with law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other parties when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property, or operations; and
  • in connection with a reorganization, merger, transfer, or dissolution involving Chapter operations, to the extent applicable and legally permitted.

We may also share information with event sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, or attendees only where that sharing is described at the time of collection, enabled as part of a specific event feature, based on your consent where appropriate, or otherwise permitted by law.

6. Event Photography, Video, Recordings, and Mobile Event Features

Chapter events may include photography, video recording, livestreaming, mobile event tools, attendee engagement features, badge scanning, or post-event publication of recordings or images for educational, archival, promotional, or community purposes. By attending a Chapter event, you acknowledge that your name, likeness, voice, image, comments, participation, or presentation materials may be captured and used by the Chapter in connection with the event and future Chapter communications, unless otherwise stated for a particular event or prohibited by law.

If a mobile event app or similar platform is used for an event, attendee profile, agenda, engagement, messaging, participation, or check-in information may be visible or processed depending on how the event is configured. If you are a speaker or presenter, we may also use your biography, headshot, organization name, presentation title, and related materials to administer and promote the event.

7. Payments

The Chapter may accept event or program payments through third-party platforms, including Cvent and its payment processing partners. Payment information submitted in connection with registration or event participation may be collected and processed by those providers on our behalf or under their own terms and privacy practices. We encourage you to review the applicable provider notices when making a payment.

8. Third-Party Sites and Services

Our Site may link to third-party websites, platforms, event pages, payment tools, webinar tools, social media pages, sponsor resources, or other services. We are not responsible for the privacy, security, or data practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy notices before providing personal information.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:

  • provide chapter services and programs;
  • maintain event, governance, financial, tax, and corporate records;
  • track attendance or CPE records;
  • resolve disputes;
  • enforce agreements; and
  • comply with legal, accounting, insurance, or reporting obligations.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the purpose for which it was collected. When personal information is no longer reasonably needed, we will delete, de-identify, anonymize, or securely dispose of it as appropriate.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no website, platform, app, transmission, or storage system is completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Email Communications

If you receive promotional or chapter marketing emails from us, you may unsubscribe by using the unsubscribe link in the message or by contacting us using the information below. Even if you opt out of promotional emails, we may still send you transactional or administrative communications related to registrations, payments, events, governance matters, or other ongoing interactions.

Updating Your Information

You may request that we update or correct the personal information we maintain about you by contacting us. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.

12. California-Specific Disclosures

This section applies to California residents. The Chapter is a California nonprofit professional association and may not be subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act in the same manner as a covered for-profit business. However, we provide the following California-specific disclosures for transparency.

A. Shine the Light

California Civil Code section 1798.83 permits California residents, in certain circumstances, to request information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please contact us using the information in the Contact section below and include “California Shine the Light Request” in your message.

B. Minors

If you are a California resident under 18 years of age, are a registered user of the Site, and have posted content or information on the Site, you may request removal of that content or information by contacting us and providing enough detail for us to identify the material. Please note that removal may not be complete or comprehensive in all instances, such as where content has been reposted by others or where we are required to retain it by law.

C. Do Not Track

Some web browsers offer a “Do Not Track” feature. Because there is not yet a universally accepted standard for how to interpret or respond to Do Not Track signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.

13. Children's Privacy

Our Site and Chapter services are intended for a professional audience and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 through the Site. If you believe a child under 16 has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review and address the matter.
