About Our Chapter

The idea to form the Chapter in Tanzania started in 1999 by few professionals from the Banks and Auditing/Connsulting firms who found a need of raising awareness in the areas of IS auditing, security and control due the increase in computer usage in the country. It is important to note that though the use of IT can bring enormous business benefits, it also introduces new risks, which needs have to be mitigated. After several discussions in March 2001, the application to form a chapter was sent to ISACA Head Quarter. In March 2002 ISACA Head Quarter approved the Chapter and Tanzania became the fourth country in Africa to formulate the local chapter preceded by South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria. Since then the chapter membership has increased tremendously.
