Today, technology is pervasive in virtually every industry. In recent times, the move towards working remotely has fuelled the increasing importance of cybersecurity and maintaining data privacy. Professionals involved in the field of audit should therefore have an understanding of the risks posed within the IT environment to inform their assessment of the controls in place to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of their organization and customers’ data.



Course Objective

After completing this training session you will be able to:

● Understand basic cybersecurity concepts, definitions and roles.
● Understand cybersecurity policies, procedures and controls.
● Understand basic security architecture principles and their implications for data privacy.
● Recognize the techniques for monitoring, detecting and logging potential intrusions via intrusion detection systems.
● Understand network and application security management techniques such as vulnerability assessment and penetration testing.
● Understand high level operating system security concepts such as system hardening and virtualization.
● Recognize the importance of data classification and its role in ensuring data security.
● Differentiate between events and incidents and the principles of incident response management.
● Recognize new and emerging information technology, and identity the associated security implications.
● Understand the principles of privacy governance and the importance of a privacy risk management strategy.
