The academic relations committee works closely with the academic advisors to advocate the advantages of the ISACA professional association to the university and college students. Early introduction to the professional organization is often advantageous for students early during their academic years, fostering the sharing of expertise, experiences, and wealth of knowledge within the ISACA members’ network.The students can primarily engage through the participation in the annual scholarship contest, which is held every year during March or April time frame. In addition, ISACA Detroit Chapter is assisting universities create cyber clubs to encourage knowledge and experience sharing between students and subject matter experts in cyber field.
The Audit committee shall have the duty of auditing the Chapter accounts at the close of the fiscal year and reporting to the Chapter Board and subsequently to the members at the AGM. The committee is responsible for the selection of the independent auditor and coordination to ensure that the auditor receives all the information to perform their duties.
The Chapter must ensure the compliance of the bylaws with the Association’s bylaws and any applicable country or state requirements. The Chapter Bylaws committee is responsible for conducting periodic, ideally annual, comparison of the Detroit Chapter practices to the adopted bylaws. Following the review, the bylaws committee will communicate the results to the Chapter Board. Additionally, the Bylaws committee is responsible for expediting the process of changing the Chapter bylaws in accordance with Article XII of the Chapter bylaws, examine the consistency of the proposed change with other provisions of the Chapter bylaws and with those of the Association, and suggest wording for proposed changes. The bylaws committee shall, before submitting a proposed Chapter bylaws amendment to ISACA, ensure all proposed changes conform with local law.
The Certification Committee promotes ISACA’s certification programs for the members and non-members of the chapter and for others from the local area, who are interested in ISACA's certifications.From providing trainings to better preparing examinees for ISACA certifications, the Certification Committee works with candidates to answer questions around the different certifications, CPE requirements, approval and hand-out of CPEs as well recognizes exam passers who can benefit from the vast network to further their professional goals. The Communications committee is responsible for coordinating all Chapter communications directed to the Chapter’s existing and potential members, stakeholders, and others having an interest in the affairs of the Chapter. The Communications committee promotes chapter news and events through our website and social media channels. The committee:
The Facilities committee is responsible for coordinating in-person meeting facilities, electronic or hybrid meeting options for the purpose of chapter meetings, special meetings or the AGM. This committee is focused on enhancing meeting experiences from ensuring seamless technical execution to offering great food options and ease of location next to major freeways. The Membership committee serves as the bridge for member introduction and connection to the chapter. Additionally, the Membership committee is responsible for communicating ISACA International membership information such as renewals, discounts and other member benefits as well as are in charge of membership recruitment and recognition. The nominating committee is responsible for finding potential candidates to be part of the Detroit Board. This process involves interviewing potential candidates, collecting the bios, preparing and sending the ballot, and reviewing the ballot results. Upon final review, the committee announces the new Board at the May Annual General Meeting (AGM). In addition to recognizing the new board, the committee also honors the outgoing board members for all their hard work and service to the chapter. The programs committee is the backbone to providing great topics with fantastic presenters to help all levels of our organization learn and grown. Sometimes the content is geared more toward our upcoming professionals at the high school and college level. Others are focused on technical heavy issues that we all see every day or on senior leadership topics to help manage through the day-to-day issues or emerging risks. Speakers are chosen based upon knowledge, relevancy of topic, and ability to engage and interest the audience. The Detroit chapters of ISACA and IIA team up every year to provide a fantastic Spring Training Conference. It is designed to increase our knowledge and allow for important networking opportunities. The team:

The Seminars committee is responsible for coordinating single-track educational events for the chapter. The seminar committee is focused on providing continuing education on relevant and emerging topics for extremely reasonable pricing.
