March Event Highlights and Recap

We hosted an enlightening monthly meeting at the MSU Management Education Center, available for participation both in-person and via Zoom. This event catered to professionals looking to enhance their networking and expand their knowledge in various critical areas.

The agenda began with a networking and registration session, setting the stage for an evening of insightful discussions and connections. Attendees were given the chance to engage with peers and discuss emerging trends before the formal presentations commenced.

The first major segment, led by Patrick Ergastolo and Brendan Jaquay from Gallagher, addressed the vital topic of "Navigating Cyber Insurance - Crucial Considerations." The presentation was particularly relevant given the current cybersecurity challenges, emphasizing the necessity of cyber insurance, the dangers of operating without it, and what constitutes a robust cyber insurance policy. The speakers also outlined how organizations could enhance their preparedness for cyber incidents and the significance of underwriting processes and security controls in the context of cyber insurance.

After delving into the complexities of cyber insurance, participants enjoyed a dinner break, offering further opportunities for networking. This informal part of the evening allowed attendees to discuss the earlier presentation in greater depth and share personal experiences and strategies related to cybersecurity and insurance.

The meeting concluded with an inspiring talk by Janette Barretto, Global Information Security Manager at Yazaki, on "Essential Leadership Characteristics." Her insights provided valuable guidance on navigating the challenges associated with leadership in the dynamic fields of risk management, technology, and security. The Detroit Chapter of ISACA’s event concluded with a raffle and closing remarks, exclusively for those attending in person, wrapping up a session full of learning, discussion, and community building.
