As a special guest traveling to the Twin Cities to present to us, Mr. Rica will cover several emerging topics in cyber including: 

  • Should I Pay the Ransom? – updates on current thinking around preparing for and responding to ransomware attacks. 
  • Attack Surface Area Minimization – using AI technology to assess and identify simulated attack paths and attack scenarios to reduce exposure footprint to external attackers. 
  • Human Firewalling – using modern delivery methods like VR and gamification to deliver high impact awareness training and develop “human firewalls. 

Speaker Bio:  

Background 

Fred Rica is a skilled technology professional with significant experience in cyber security, and technology risk management. Mr. Rica is a nationally recognized authority on the subject of information security and has performed or managed hundreds of security assessment, design and implementation projects of large and complex processing environments. Over the course of his career, Mr. Rica has addressed cyber and technology risk issues in identity management, vulnerability management, incident response, compliance management, organizational design and governance across a broad range of industries.  

Professional and Industry Experience 

Over the past thirty years, Mr. Rica has helped some of the world’s foremost users of technology solve complex risk management issues. His clients have included American Express, AT&T, IBM, International Monetary Fund, JP Morgan, MasterCard, Pepsi, Pfizer, Prudential, U.S. House of Representatives, Verizon and The World Bank.  Many of these projects were “mission critical” in nature and not only helped to help improve the efficacy, cost and performance of cyber and risk systems and processes, but also helped to support business imperatives, enhance profitability, reduce risk and drive innovation.  

Publications and Speaking Engagements 

Mr. Rica is a frequent presenter and commenter on the topic of information security and risk and has spoken at numerous conferences including the Black Hat Briefings, RSA and the NACD. Mr. Rica is often quoted in major print media and has appeared on CNN, CNBC, FOX and other major networks.

Community Service 

Mr. Rica is Vice President of the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America Northern New Jersey Council and an Advisory Board Member of both the Pace University and Rutgers University Cyber Security Programs.
