An overview on ISACA and ISACA Riyadh Chapter

ISACA is a professional, supplier-independent and nonprofit organization enjoying a global leadership in IT governance, Security, Risk, Control and Assurance. It was started in 1967 by a small group of individuals who recognized a need for a centralized source of information and guidance in the growing field of auditing controls for computer systems. As of March 2020, ISACA has more than 140,000+ members associated to 220+ Chapters in more than 87 countries worldwide.

ISACA provides practical guidance, benchmarks and other effective tools for all enterprises that use information systems. Through its comprehensive guidance and services, ISACA defines the roles of information systems governance, risk, security, audit and assurance professionals worldwide. The CISA (146,000+), CISM (43,000+), CGEIT (8,000+), CRISC (25,000+) and COBIT5 Governance Framework (700+) certifications are ISACA brands respected and used by 166,000+ certificate holding professionals for the benefit of their enterprises.

ISACA has a global membership with professionals and students associated with more than 220 Chapters and 97 Student Groups worldwide. These chapters offer an opportunity to share a broad range of professional expertise from diverse business communities. Chapters sponsor local educational seminars and workshops, engage in IT research projects, conduct regular chapter meetings, and help to further promote and elevate the visibility of the IS audit, control and security professional.
One of those 200+ chapters is ISACA Riyadh Chapter that was established in early 1995 and enjoys membership strength of about 750+ members associated to it. The certification mix is CISA (260+), CISM (220+), CGEIT (45+), CRISC (120+), CSX F (6) and CSX P (1). With a vision of spreading IT Governance, Information Security & Information Systems Auditing in an independent, non-profit and professional way in the Riyadh Region in line with ISACA Vision, the Riyadh Chapter is overcoming challenges that come its way. The Chapter has focused on conducting Technical Sessions, Exam Preparation Courses and participating with events with like-minded organizations. The Chapter also won the ISACA Presidential Cup in 2008 that was received by the president chapter president at the ISACA International Conference in Toronto in presence of more than 1,000 professionals from more than 70 countries.

As part of their plans, Riyadh Chapter is extending benefits to its members on a regular basis. Great milestone that the Riyadh Chapter achieved was the realization of the Arabization initiative of ISACA material in coordination with ISACA International. The road map is to have the ISACA exams in Arabic Language as well to be done in coordination with ISACA International and the other Arabic speaking Chapters in the region.
