Speaker: Caio Tkalec
Bio: Tkalec is a Wellington-based seasoned tech professional, fractional Chief AI Officer, and founder of Kaitiaki Data, MeetCAIO.ai, and NexGuide.ai. He advises New Zealand and Australian public-sector entities and enterprises on operationalizing AI deployment to enable productivity by removing the fear factor of AI use for Boards and CxO executives. He created 'the Kaitiaki AI Framework™'—a five-component AI Governance framework grounded in the Māori concept of 'Kaitiaki'—to establish the necessary AI Governance guardrails to protect data. This framework aligns with ISACA's COBIT, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, the MIT AI Governance Map, NIST, the NZ Privacy Act 2020, and the NZ Public Service AI Framework.
Caio brings over 27 years of IT architecture experience across Microsoft, Spark NZ, Defence, and numerous public-service and corporate customers including ASB, ANZ, Westpac, Fonterra, AGL, Rio Tinto, Vale, Australian Post, TJSP Pertamina, Petrobras, Telefonica, Sadia, Honda, Singtel, Itaú, Bradesco, Tribunal de Justiça de São Paulo (São Paulo Justice Tribunal), ABN Amro Bank, IBM, Nestlé Foods, HP, EDS, Kraft Foods, T-Systems, Mercedes-Benz, Bayer, and Sika across Asia, South America, Europe, and the United States.As the Program Director for the Azure expansion in Brazil South, his program built the Office 365 Infrastructure and streamed over 10 petabytes of data content from the Rio 2016 Summer Games to the MSNBC network and the world with zero outages. He is currently co-authoring two books: "AI Governance in Aotearoa: From AI Fear to Kaitiaki of AI" and "Cross-sector Collaboration to Build High-Performance Teams in the Modern Workplace." He is also a Master of Information Governance candidate at the University of Auckland.
