About Our Chapter

Welcome to the ISACA Western Michigan Chapter. Our chapter was chartered March 5, 1979. The aim of the chapter is to sponsor local educational seminars and workshops, conduct regular chapter meetings, and help to further promote and elevate the visibility of the IS audit, control, and security profession throughout Western Michigan.

ISACA (previously the Information Systems Audit and Control Association) is a world wide association of IS governance professionals. The association currently focuses on assurance, security, and governance and provides globally recognized certification in assurance (Certified Information Systems Auditor), security (Certified Information Security Manager), and  governance (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT).

The association is one of individual members, often the sole practitioner of information systems auditing, security, and/or governance in his or her company. The membership of ISACA reflects a multiplicity of backgrounds and skills that make the information systems governance field challenging and dynamic. Current ISACA Western Michigan Chapter Officers are listed below on the left side of the page.  This chapter is run by volunteers who are ISACA members nominated at the ISACA Annual General Meeting (AGM). ISACA members' participation in running the chapter is highly encouraged.

The objectives of the Western Michigan Chapter are:

  • To promote the education of, and help expand the knowledge and skills of, its members in the interrelated fields of AUDITING and INFORMATION SYSTEMS.
  • To encourage a free exchange of IS audit techniques, approaches, and problem solving by its members.
  • To provide adequate communication to keep members abreast of current events in IS and auditing which can be beneficial to them and their employers.
  • To communicate to management, and to systems and IS professionals, the importance of establishing controls necessary to ensure the effective organization and utilization of data processing resources.

The objectives of the chapter are part of our bylaws that govern the Western Michigan Chapter of ISACA which are available to view or download.
