Our Chapter History
In 1969, Stuart Tyrnauer, an employee of the Douglas Aircraft Company, founded the EDP Auditors Association (EDPAA) and served as its first chairman for three years. This marked the beginning of a dedicated pursuit of excellence in IT governance and control. By 1976, the association established an education foundation to spearhead large-scale research and advance knowledge in the field. A year later, the first edition of Control Objectives was published, setting a benchmark in IT governance. In 1979, through strategic initiatives, the EDP Auditors Foundation transformed a $10,000 grant into $1.2 million in revenue.

The association rebranded as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) in 1994, signaling its evolution to meet growing industry demands. In 2000, ISACA formed the “2000 and Beyond” committee to establish brand standards and chart a path for sustained growth. By 2003, ISACA had deepened its commitment to serving local communities and the IT profession.

In 2019, ISACA launched COBIT 2019, a refined framework with a Design Guide to help organizations customize governance strategies. The same year, ISACA celebrated its 50th anniversary by documenting its rich history through interviews with past presidents and global members. In January 2020, ISACA embraced a refreshed digital presence, unveiling a new logo to reflect its dynamic future.
