Associated with  Las Vegas Chapter

Presentation Summary:

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) of 2018, which goes into effect January of 2020, is set to dramatically change how businesses handle data. Companies that store large amounts of personal information — including major players like Google and Facebook — will be required to disclose the types of data they collect, as well as allow consumers to opt out of having their data sold. This new law will require companies to rethink their data privacy strategies which will present unprecedented challenges for those in privacy, legal, and marketing. In this presentation we will do a deep dive on CCPA including the scope and requirements of the law, along with business strategies and opportunities. We will also provide a brief overview of the regulatory enforcement environment, other pending privacy legislation, and the key issues affecting companies.
